Yes, all our boots and shoes will have a waterproof membrane liner and in the case of full grain leather walking boots (shiny brown), the leather itself is intrinsically waterproof. All outdoor footwear needs treatment to keep an optimum level of proofing.
Waterproof fabric is measured by its water column. Imagine a very long test tube filled with water. For a shower-proof garment, 2.5 meters of water pressure would force its way through the fabric. This is not sufficient for a high-quality walking jacket. We recommend garments with a water column rating of 10–30 meters.
All of these specific fabrics are breathable, meaning vapor from inside the garment can pass through it.
